A general servant, Sarah Furren, age 20, was also enumerated in the Rose household in 1871.5

Michael was 16 years old and an art student pupil and his sister Ethilda M. Michael was 13 years old and a scholar. Sarah's son, Henry C. Notcutt, was 16 years old and a pupil teacher, which may have meant he was a tutor. Also enumerated in the Michael household in 1881 was Thomas's sister, Hannah (Michael) Saunders, who was 51 years of age, married, and an assistant housekeeper. The final person enumerated with the family that year was Mary A. Watson, age 19, who worked as a general servant.7
