The sub-lease agreement restated the original expiration date of 23 February 1759 and was recorded on 13 December 1750.1

Ernest was 45 years of age and worked as a farmer on his own account, and Minnie was 51 years of age. Ernest had been 20 years old when he married for the first time and Minnie, at her first marriage, had been 25 years of age. They had been married for nine years and owned their farm. Three children were enumerated with the couple in 1930. Beulah E. Hartley, Minnie's younger daughter from her first marriage, was 22 years of age and worked as a nurse on her own account; Earl D. Hartley, Minnie's son from her first marriage, was 19 years old and worked for wages as a laborer for the Malleable Iron Company; and Eva M. Whaley, Ernest's youngest from his first marriage, was 11 years old and had attended school within the census year. Everyone in the Whaley household was able to read, write and to speak English.

On the 1930 census in Cadillac, Wexford County, Ernest's son, Gerald, was enumerated with his wife, Verna Kanouse, and their two sons; and Ernest's daughter, Pauline, who had married Clarence Horton Jamison in 1925, was enumerated as Pauline Whaley in 1930 in the household of her brother, Gerald, and was recorded as divorced. Minnie's elder daughter, Lizzetta May (Hartley) Whaley, had married Floyd E. Whaley in 1927 and died in Cadillac, Wexford County on 25 March 1928, five days after giving birth to their son, Erwin Whaley, whose name was also found recorded as Floyd Erwin Whaley, a junior to his father.10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17 
Census US 1940*23 April 1940Minnie and Ernest Whaley were enumerated on the 1940 census taken on 23 April 1940 in Clam Lake, Wexford County, Michigan. Ernest was 55 years of age, had completed his education through the 8th grade of elementary school, worked as a farmer on his own account, and had worked 60 hours the week before the census was taken, and Minnie was 51 years of age had completed her education through the 1st year of high school, and worked doing her own housework. They owned their farm which was valued at $1,500. Minnie's son from her first marriage, Earl Hartley, was enumerated with the couple in 1940. Earl was single, 29 years of age and had completed his education through the 4th year of high school. He was working for wages as an arc welder for a private auto heater manufacturer, and had worked 42 hours the week before the census was taken. Ernest reported not working at all in 1939, and having income from other sources. and Earl reported working 52 weeks in 1939 for an income of $980, and also reported having other sources of income. Everyone in the Whaley household had lived in the same house, on the same farm, on 1 April 1935.18 
Census US 1950*5 May 1950Minnie and Ernest Whaley were enumerated on the 1950 census taken on 5 May 1950 on Whaley Road, Clam Lake, Wexford County, Michigan. Ernest was 65 years of age and a farmer working on his own account, and Minnie was 71 years of age and doing her own housework. Ernest reported working 70 hours the week before the census was taken. The day before the census was taken, Ernest had been at work on his farm and Minnie had been doing her housework. Minnie's line number had been selected for additional information where she reported that she had been living in the same house one year before, had been born in the United States, and that the 9th grade was the highest grade of school she had completed.19
