Census US 1900*15 June 1900Olive and Andrew Webber were enumerated on the 1900 census taken on 15 June 1900 in Grant, Taylor County, Iowa. Andrew was 49 years of age and a farmer working on his own account, and Olive was 45 years of age. They owned their farm with a mortgage, had been married for 22 years, and Olive had given birth to three children, all of whom were living and enumerated with their parents in 1900. Ida W. was 20 years old and had completed her education; Nettie J. and Frances R. were ages 16 and 8 years, respectively, and both were students. Nettie had attended school for eight months of the census year, and Frances had attended school for four months of the census year. Olive's brother, Jacob M. Welliver, and his son, Grover L. Welliver, were also enumerated in the Webber household in 1900. Jacob was 36 years of age and recorded as a widower, although his former wife was alive and was enumerated in Illinois in 1900 as divorced. Jacob, who had been unemployed for four months, was working as a farm laborer on his brother-in-law's farm. His son, Grover was 8 years old, a student, and had attended school for eight months of the census year. Everyone in the Webber household was able to read, write and to speak English.5

Harvey was 39 years of age and his occupation was recorded as "Joader". Eliza J. was 36 years of age and keeping house. They lived with their six children, Orlando who was 17 and worked as a clerk in a grocery, Lucinda S. was 13 and had attended school within the last year, Arthur, who was 11 and had also attended school within the last year, William 7, Frank 5 and Ella 2. Also living with the family in 1870 were two of the sons of Harvey's brother Henry, David and Washington Willis, aged 19 and 17, respectively.9

Arthur was 21 and worked as a drug clerk, William, who was enumerated as W.E., was 17 and worked as a grocer clerk, Frank and Ella, ages 14 and 12, respectively, had both attended school within the last year, Kittie was 4 years old, and Lena was 2.10 
Census US 1900*2 June 1900Eliza and Harvey Willis were enumerated on the 1900 census taken on 2 June 1900 in Spring Valley, Dallas County, Iowa. Harvey was 69 years of age and worked as a livestock shipper, and Eliza was 65. They had been married for 48 years and had a total of 12 children, 7 of whom were living, and three of whom resided with their parents in 1900. William was 36 years of age and, like his father, worked as a livestock shipper. He was enumerated as married for five years, although his wife was not enumerated in the Willis household. Ella was single, 32 years of age and worked as a stenographer and Lena was 21, single and also working as a stenographer.6

Relationship Note*We also wonder about the relationship between Hilah J. Webster and Eliza J. Webster, the wives of the Willis brothers, John and Harvey. Was it another case of brothers marrying sisters or cousins? Or a coincidence that their wives' surnames were both Webster? We have found that coincidences aren't usually the answer.7

His address was on Ship Street, the same street where John Bolton, the Marine Mariner, lived in 1807. If he was the same Webster that John Bolton was in business with, he could be a clue, and possibly a brother or brother-in-law of Zilpah's. We need to research this John O. Webster to see what we can learn.1

(Younger son) Research Notes Sadly, during the 15 years between 1886 and 1901, all five members of the Zachary Taylor and Virginia M. (Heaton) Weir family passed away. Their daughter, Clara Louise, who was just 10 years old, died in 1886. Husband and father, Zachary, and son, Wallace, both died in 1898, Zachary in March and Wallace, who had a wife and child, in October. Charles died in May of 1901 and wife and mother Virginia, by then a widow and childless, died in October of 1901. Little Clara Louise was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, New York City, and all the other members of the family, who passed away after Clara, were buried together in the same Section and Plot# of Evergreen Cemetery in Morristown, New Jersey. Death Certificate information, which included a cause of death, was found for Wallace, Charles, and their mother, Virginia, so we know that both Wallace and Charles died from different variations of tuberculosis, and that their mother died from a gun-shot wound to her chest. We haven't learned the causes of the deaths of Clara Louise or her father, Zachary, although we wonder if, they too, had tuberculosis.2
