Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts Bay Province (New England)

Cambridge was in the Massachusetts Bay Province from 7 October 1691 until the Revolutionary War began in early October 1774, and it has been in the state of Massachusetts since the state was established on 6 February 1788. It was originally a town in the Massachusetts Bay Colony, and became a part of Middlesex County when that county was created on 10 May 1643. It is situated directly north of Boston, across the Charles River.
